If you don't have a website

If you don't have a website, Walkabout.com.au makes putting your business on the net a remarkably painless and cost-effective exercise.

Some of this information may seem rather basic so pass over it if you are already familiar with the way the World Wide Web works. If you are unfamiliar with the Internet then this is an easy-to-understand description of what is required to help you promote your product on walkabout.com.au.

    1. You will notice that at the bottom of each town entry on the Walkabout site there is a list of the services available to the traveller and visitor. This list includes details about all the motels, hotels, caravan parks, guest houses, B&B places, farmstays, resorts, restaurants, cafes and tourist information offices in the town or city. This is only very basic information.
    2. It is possible to attach a single page to each of these addresses. By this we mean that a person can come to the site, find your accommodation or restaurant destination, click on it and enter another level where there is detailed information (logos, maps, photos of the destination and its main features, descriptions of its attractions and extra information). See some of the example webpages we could provide:
    3. There is an obvious advantage. If a potential customer can only access your address and telephone number they have no idea what your product is like. If they can click on your address and see photographs, a description and information about how to make a booking they are very well informed. It makes good commercial success to have a webpage for your product.

N.B. This is a two level process. (a) we have to design the webpage and (b) we have to connect the webpage to walkabout.com.au. In old-fashioned terms it is the same as designing an advertisement for a magazine then placing that advertisement in the magazine.

    The cost:

    • To create a webpage: $110 once-off fee plus $55 per year maintenance fee which allows you to change the information and photographs. A total of $165.
    • To establish a hot link: A hot link to Walkabout costs $165 for six months or $275 for 12 months.
    • This means that for $330 we will design your web home page and establish a link to Walkabout Travel for six months and for $440 we will design your web home page and establish a link to Walkabout Travel for a year. All costs include GST.

How can I get a webpage?

To create a webpage we need:

    1. A good copy of your logo. If you do not have one we have a range of standard designs you can choose from.
    2. Two good photographs of your product. The higher the quality the better they look on the Web.
    3. Information about your product. The address, the telephone number, the costs (if accommodation the room rates, if eating the average cost for two people) and a good description of your product and its particular appeal.
    4. You have to choose one of the standard designs we are offering
