Walks: 70 Walks in Victoria's Bright and Falls Creek Districts
Written by Tyrone Thomas, who has written extensively about bushwalks in Australia, this 183 page book is designed very specifically for people actually intending to do the walks throughout the Snowy Mountains region of Victoria. The walks around Beechworth, Mount Buffalo, Bright and the Snowy Mountains are interesting and unusual. It is not a coffee table book for people who dream about doing interesting bushwalks. The book opens with the usual sensible advice - safety, common sense, first aid, equipment, mapping, food, navigation etc - and then it is straight into the 70 walks. There is a useful map (more detailed map references are provided), a comprehensive description of what you will see on the walk and then the basic information: time it takes to complete the walk, degree of difficulty, distance (to the nearest 100 metres) and other pertinent information. Walks range from pleasant 1 hour wanders to difficult 2-3 day walks. This is a book for every bushwalker whether serious (there are three day walks) or social. The instructions are clear and, as far as we can determine, the information is accurate and sensible.

The bookshop is closing down and we now have limited stock and are only sending books out upon receipt of a cheque. The sensible thing to do is email belder@bigpond.com with a request for the book. We will notify you if we have any copies in stock. If we do then we can arrange for the book to be posted upon receipt of a cheque. Cumbersome, yes. But all books are being discounted.
