VIC - Mallacoota Inlet - A Story from Carol Babik in the USA.
From Carol Babik in the USA - Mallacoota Inlet, Victoria
From: CAROL BABIK
On our last visit to Australia, we spent
most of a month exploring Kosciusko and Victoria. For all the
splendors of the Australian Alps in the summertime, and the hustle and
bustle of urban Melbourne, our favorite experience was the left hand
turn we made to visit Mallacoota and the area nearby. From the
flathead fishing in the Inlet, to the bush-walking and the miles of
beautiful beaches, we thouroghly enjoyed the small town, laid-back
atmospher of Mallacoota! We intended at first to drive thru and see
what the place was like? We wound up spending a good week there! We
sat through a wedding at the local pub, observing the wedding party, in
full formals, disembarking from a boat down in the harbour, and
casually wander up the hill to the reception at the pub. Mallacoota is
friendly, personable and a complete pleasure to visit! Hope to return
again another day?
A n editorial Note: We agree. It is very
beautiful and very peaceful. It was once a famous artists colony and
it easy to understand why the painters were attracted to the area.
