All Over Australia - A Story from Ben Arends, Londerzeel, Belgium.
From Ben Arends in Londerzeel, Belgium - My trip to Australia
    From: Ben Arends A-Clean

I was lucky enough to have lived in Australia in my youth but I was even more lucky to go back there on holiday 30 years later in 1999. What a wonderfull trip it was. We landed in Melbourne where we rented a very big comfortable motorhome and our first destination was the most beautiful city of Australia - It was there that I lived 30 years ago, and went to school - Adelaide!

We took the coastal road from Melbourne to Adelaide and this was a fantastic experience! We even flew a helicopter over the 12 Apostles. In the 30 years that I was out of Adelaide not very much was changed really! It was an emotional experience to see that the two houses I lived in were still there!

We spent a couple of days in and around Adelaide and then moved on! Adelaide was just a side track for us because I lived there, in fact we wanted to go up to North Quensland. We drove through Broken Hill, through New South Wales up to Queensland. We passed a lot of towns and I never saw so many kangaroos in all the years I lived in Australia than I did in the few days from Adelaide to Brisbane.

Brisbane was beautiful! Unfortunately we arrived there on Anzac Day and everything was closed but we stayed a few days and got the see all the interesting places. We travelled further up north, staying only at Big 4 caravanparks with our motorhome. We recommend them to everyone.Very clean amenities!

Everything you can imagine a tourist should see and do in beautiful Queensland we did. It was fantastic: We visited Fraser Island, the Whitsundays, We dived and snorkelled on the reef off Cairns, we visited Daintree and took a river cruise and saw some huge crocodiles!, we took the

Skyrail to Kuranda and came back by scenic railway, we saw huge snakes in the wild, we went jet ski'ng, we rented four wheel drives to get to places where you normally can't go,we went swimming in the most clear waters and lay on the most beautiful beaches you can imagine.

We drove back down the coast and stayed a few days at Surfers Paradise. Lots of cafes and discos there to taste some of the great Australian beers. Then we moved on and stayed for 4 days in Sydney. Of course we saw all the sights there as well! Unfortunately we couldn't stay too long in Sydney because we had to turn in our motorhome in Melbourne to catch our plane . But believe me: the drive from Sydney to Melbourne was one of the most beautiful ones in Australia: so green! I'll be back in 2000 to visit West Australia and the Northern Territory, I promise. I've been to lots of places in the world, but Australia is the highlight!!!!
